life and career

Aaron Tveit was born to Stanley and Posie Tveit in Middletown , New York. His brother Jon, four years his junior, is a Catholic priest in Yonkers , New York. The surname "Tveit" comes from Norwegian. In 2001 he finished his school years at Middletown High School, where he was active in numerous sports (basketball, football, golf), but also played various roles in the theater productions of his school, including Tony in West Side Story . In preparation for this role, he also took singing lessons for the first time, and he also played the horn and violin in his childhood.

After his school days he refused scholarships from several business schools in order to study classical singing at Ithaca College, but after a year he switched to musical theater, as he said he missed theater and actors.

In his sophomore year, Tveit left college to star in the national touring production of Rent Steve, as well as the understudy of Roger and Mark. He was then cast as Link Larkin in the first tour production of the musical Hairspray . This role also earned him his Broadway debut in 2006 . In July of the following year he played Matt in Calvin Berger for the Barrington Stage Company. From August to September 2007 he then played the role of D'Artagnan in the musical adaptation of Dumases The Three Musketeers at the North Shore Music Theater. Immediately afterwards he began work on his film debut Wen die Geister liebe , which was released in theaters worldwide in 2008. Since then, a number of other film projects have followed, between which Tveit regularly returns to the stage.

Eight years after leaving, he returned to study at Ithaca College and graduated in 2012.

Tveit attaches great importance to the protection of his privacy, from the past only a temporary relationship with musical actress colleague Jacqui Polk from 2005 to 2007 is known. In rehearsals for Moulin Rouge! He met Ericka Hunter, who plays in the show's ensemble, and has been in a relationship with her since 2018.
