The Abasig-Matogdon Mananap Natural Biotic Area is located in the Bicol Region , on the island of Luzon , Philippines . It was established on May 31, 2000 on an area of ​​5420 hectares in the province of Camarines Norte in the municipality of San Lorenzo Ruiz , Labo , San Vicente and was established according to the guidelines of NIPAS Law 7586 .

The nature reserve is located about 300 km southeast of Manila and about thirty kilometers from the provincial capital Daet , around the Labo volcano in the province. It comprises larger rainforest stocks in the province, which cover approx. 497 km² in the nature reserve. In the nature reserve, the Labo reaches a maximum height of 1,539 meters above sea level. The climate in the area is tropical and humid without a pronounced dry period, the driest months are from November to April. In the area of ​​the nature reserve there are numerous thermal springs that have been used for energy production since 1982.

The reserve is home to a wide range of the flora and fauna of the Philippines. On the flatter mountain slopes there are intensive flatland rainforests, which, however, were subject to heavy forestry use from the 1960s to 1980s . From approx. 1,000 meters, mountain rainforests join, which extend to the summit region. Observations of the blood-winged fruit pigeon ( Ptilinopus marchei ) and goldfishers ( Ceyx melanurus ) are known of the avifauna . The Grays monitor lizard ( Varanus olivaceus ) and the Philippine sailing lizard ( Hydrosaurus pustulatus ) occur in the area of reptiles .
