It is in the appendix of the NIPAS law of 1992 as a protected nature park and is to be expanded to a size of 4,091 hectares.
It is located on the north coast of the Caramoan Peninsula in the area of the municipality of Caramoan and is a combined land and marine reserve . It has some notable scenic features such as white sandy beaches, caves , an underground river, and a lake on an island off the coast . The locals have laid out hiking trails for visitors. It is a popular destination for tourists and the local population.
The core zone of the national park is the coastal region, which is joined by karstified mountain ranges that offer the observer a surreal sight. These reach a height of 220 meters above sea level. The varied natural scenery offers a habitat for the endemic , almost two meter long gray monitor lizard (Varanus olivaceus) . Other reptiles that occur there are various skinks such as Brachymeles samarensis , Dasia grisea , Lipinia pulchellum , Brachymeles boulengeri , Otosaurus cumingi and the Sphenomorphus jagori named after Fedor Jagor . Sightings of the endemic frog Platymantis corrugatus have been reported. Observations of the dugong (Dugong dugon) date back to 1997.
Little is known of the avifauna ; only the Luzon spatula-tailed parrot ( Prioniturus luconensis ) has been reported from the national park.
