Abbas Mirza Scharifsade or Abbas Mirza Scharifzadeh ( Azerbaijani Abbas Mirzə Şərifzadə ; born March 10 . Jul / 22. March  1893 greg. In Şamaxı ; † 16th November 1938 in Baku ) was an Azerbaijani actor and director .

Life

Sharifsade's professional career began in 1908 as a leading actor in the ensemble of the Gajibekov brothers. Since 1920 he played at the State Theater in Baku. The work of Hüseyn Ərəblinski had a great influence on his work .

Sharifsade had a large number of roles in his repertoire , including the title role in Hüseyn Cavids Iblis , the roles Aidyn , Oktai , El'khan, and Eivaz in Cabbarlıs Aidyn , Oktai El'ogly , The Bride of Fire and In 1905, and the title role in Nərimanov's Nadir Shah . He also played leading roles in foreign classics such as Othello and Macbeth by Shakespeare , The Robbers by Schiller and Uriel Acosta by Gutzkow . In 1926 he became the first Azerbaijanis to play Hamlet .

Sharifade also starred in films and was one of the first Azerbaijani directors. He began his film career as an actor in Boris Swetlows Knyas Temir-Bulat (1916) and as a director with Bismillah (1925) .

In 1928 he was honored with the title of Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR and in 1936 with the title of People's Artist of the Azerbaijani SSR .

At the end of his life, Sharifade fell victim to the Great Purge under Stalin . He was accused of espionage because he frequently visited the Iranian consulate.
