Abel Sanchez is a Mexican boxing coach . He is the current coach of Gennady Golovkin , whose first coach was Magomed Shaburov .
Currently he trains among others, the former Nigerian WBC world champion in the heavyweight Samuel Peter , Joel Diaz Jr. , Luis Carlos Abregu , Salvador Sanchez II , the former WBO world champion at light middleweight zaurbek baysangurov , Konstantin Ponomarev , Sullivan Barrera , the current IBF world champion in cruiserweight Murat Gassiev , Denis Shafikov and Ben Hall .
Other boxers who have been trained by Sanchez include Terry Norris , Orlin Norris , Lupe Aquino , Jesus Salud , Miguel Ángel González , Nana Konadu , Paul Vaden , Carlos Baldomir and Francois Botha .
Sanchez is without a doubt one of the best coaches in the world. In 2015 he was named "Trainer of the Year" by the influential Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) with the Eddie Futch Award and Yahoo Sports named him Trainer of the Year the following year .
