Adventure with Timon & Pumbaa is an American animated series by the Walt Disney Company , which was produced from 1995 to 1999. It is based on the Disney film The Lion King . Timon and Pumbaa, who each play a supporting role in the film, are now the focus of this series. The series consists of 86 episodes with two stories each. Although the series is a cartoon series is also contains sitcom elements, what a Disney - series is not uncommon in the 1990s.

content

In the stories, the focus is on joke (especially due to the highly exaggerated cartoon plot) and action. This contrasts the series with the more serious "Lion King". Timon and Pumbaa experience their adventures in the jungle at home as well as in cities such as New York City and the most remote corners of the earth, e.g. B. Alaska or Uruguay . There are also trips to other eras, for example to the Middle Ages or ancient Rome.

In addition, there are two separate series within the series with "The giggling hyenas" and "Rafiki's stories". Finally, clips can be seen in some episodes, e.g. B. The Lion Sleeps Tonight . In Germany, the series was first broadcast on February 22, 1997 by RTL. Later followed by repetitions Disney Cinemagic , Super RTL , Disney Channel , Kabel eins , ORF 1 , SRF 1 , SRF zwei , Toon Disney , Fox Kids later jetix , Disney XD .

Characters

Timon is a meerkat who used to be considered the little idiot of his large family. Due to a breach of duty while guarding his colony, he was cast out and met Pumbaa, who became his best friend. Timon, like Pumbaa, likes cockroaches , bugs , maggots and worms . He is clever, but also quite selfish. According to the episode "The Meerkat Exam", Timon's full name is Timon Berkowitz .

The warthog Pumbaa is Timon's best friend. Cockroaches are his favorite food. Sometimes he can't contain himself and suddenly farts . Morally he is a lot more stable than Timon and often acts as his conscience. Pumbaa usually doesn't look very smart, but has occasional flashes of inspiration and hints of intelligence.

Mr. Quint is a bad person who appears in the series in a variety of roles. Most of the time he is after Timon and Pumbaa, who point to him. Apparently there are several quints, but his role is always that of the antagonist or villain.

The bear is a nameless bear who is mostly in a bad mood and aggressive. Timon and Pumbaa have to watch out for him again and again, otherwise he will eat them up when they do something that upsets him. He never succeeds in this, however, because he usually calms down again at the last moment. The effort that Timon and Pumbaa put in not to upset him often appears in retrospect to be greater than anything he could ever do to them when he gets angry.

Speedy the snail is a snail that is friends with Timon and Pumbaa and is the only snail that they would never eat. It is based on Bing Crosby . She rarely appears on the show.

In addition, several characters known from the "Lion King" appear in the series with Simba, Rafiki, Zazu and the three hyenas.
