But life is alive is an Austrian band from Lower Austria .

In 1997 Jürgen Hofbauer, Wolfgang Wiesbauer and Florian Emerstorfer founded the band "Aber das Leben Leben" (But life is alive). They play indie - pop and close to Americana and blues , and they are also of musicians such as John Cale and Bob Dylan influences. First of all, they self-published a maxi EP. Through Fritz Ostermayer , to whom they sent a demo cassette, they came into contact with the Viennese music scene and finally moved to Vienna. In 1999 her debut album Rectangles and Triangles as Signs for Love and Pain was released on the small label Höllering. Then they got under contract with Trost Records and released the album Sorrow Beat the following year , which helped them to become better known. Their songs were played on FM4 and the band made appearances on Austria 1 and Bayerischer Rundfunk . In 2004 they released the album Perfect Teen and toured Austria and neighboring countries.

In 2004, Martin Wiesbauer, Wolfgang Wiesbauer's brother, became a member of “But life is alive”. Jürgen Hofbauer left the band the following year. In 2009 they released another album, Hospital Years . In the same year she was nominated for the FM4 Award, which is presented as part of the Amadeus Austrian Music Award . She worked with other musicians such as Marilies Jagsch , Bernhard Fleischmann and Gustav . In 2010 drummer Ralph Wakolbinger, who had previously belonged to the Austrian noise rock group “Mord”, joined the band . In 2011 the next album of "But life is alive" was released under the title New Musketeers at Trost. The band presented it at concerts together with Kreisky and went on tour through Austria and Germany. In 2014 the album Figures and another Austria tour followed.
