reception

In the summer of 2016, Winter dealt in his three-minute satirical weekly review for the ZDF program “Hallo Deutschland” with a brochure from the Amadeu Antonio Foundation on dealing with hate speech recommended by the Federal Ministry of the Interior . He described the reporting of hate posts on social media as "spying". As an example, he named two anti-Muslim and nationalist Twitter accounts , according to the time , whose contributions, along with other right-wing populist accounts, he also distributed himself via his private Twitter account. The foundation, which became the target of an intensive campaign by right-wing extremists with the publication of the brochure , responded with a complaint to the ZDF television council and requested that the contribution be deleted. ZDF did not meet this requirement, but distanced itself from Winter's statements in terms of content: "Winter works as a satirist with provocative, exaggerated theses and makes his pointed statements recognizable in this role," a spokesman told Zeit Online . In this context, the journalist Stefan Winterbauer pointed out in the online branch service Meedia that it was a scam by Winter to “package populist agitation with a lot of grimacing in pseudo-irony”. So in the end he could always say: It was just fun, it was just satire! " Winter also spreads in the column with Tichy "with a lot of rolling eyes and arm-rowing, which is probably supposed to signal irony", mostly "reactionary [e] to populist [e]" messages. In contrast, defended Rainer Meyer winter TV report, and according to him his "migration critical" posts for the video column in his FAZ - Blog Deus ex Machina , saying in the context of criticism of an "orchestrated spectacle".
