The advice program Dings vom Dach ( original spelling or logo: dings vom dach ) was produced by the Hessischer Rundfunk in Kassel from 2005 , in Frankfurt since October 2016 and broadcast on Sunday evening on hr television . The format was 45 minutes long and was considered a mixture of comedy and guessing show.

From May 2011 the program was also broadcast by WDR television , and from 2013 also by SWR television .

The Hessischer Rundfunk stopped the broadcast at the end of 2019. The last broadcast was broadcast on December 22, 2019.

"Dingse"

The program was about guessing the purpose and application of unusual everyday objects ("things") . The "Dingse" were sent in by viewers, which was called anew in each broadcast. The items had to be at least 30 years old and have a practical use.

In each round of the game, the four-person guessing team was presented with one of the “things”, and the moderator also gave up to three tips. If the guessing team did not come up with the solution within a few minutes, the round was ended and the sender of the "thing" received 100 euros. If the solution was guessed, the guessing team received the 100 euros to donate to a good cause at the end of the program. Finally, the solution was presented in a short film. These films were specially produced (often in local museums). The moderator himself demonstrated the application of the last “thing” in a program in the studio.

The first presenter since the pilot episode was German television actor Thomas Balou Martin . From April 11, 2010, Sven Lorig presented the show.

"Ilse" and "Rita"

With two “things” in each broadcast, the solution did not have to be guessed freely, but a Hessian countrywoman presented the correct and a fictitious wrong application in two films. The team then had to choose one of the films.

On May 7, 2017, Rita Braun succeeded Ilse Ruckelshaußen, who had presented this section in the eleven years before.
