Markus Barth (born March 1, 1977 in Bamberg ) is a German stand-up comedian , author and headwriter .

Life

Origin, education and private life

Barth was born in Bamberg in 1977 and grew up in Zeil am Main . He first studied theater studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , but dropped out in favor of his work at Die Wochenshow in 1999 after the intermediate examination. He then moved to Cologne , where he still lives. He has been in a relationship since 2003; the couple entered into a registered partnership in 2008 and married in 2018. He is committed to promoting same-sex partnership recognition and marriage for all . In addition, he repeatedly takes a position against xenophobia and right-wing populism .

Career

In 1999 he applied as a writer for Die Wochenshow and got a job with Sat.1 . There he was promoted to co-headwriter alongside Rolf Gade six months later . After two years he switched to the show What are you watching ?! whose second season was just beginning. Since then he has worked as an author and headwriter for numerous television shows and has written for various stage artists.

He has also been working as a stand-up comedian since 2007 and presents excerpts from his stage programs in various television programs. In 2011 he published his first book. Since September 2019 he has had the satire show So far for WDR .
