Aditya "Adi" Agarwal (born October 26, 1984 in Darjeeling ) is a professional Indian poker player .

Personal

Agarwal grew up in Darjeeling . He then studied at Drexel University in Philadelphia , first engineering and later marketing . Agarwal lives in Calcutta .

Poker career

Agarwal came to poker in 2003 following the moneymaker boom. He has been playing online since 2004 under the nicknames Adi Agarwal ( PokerStars ) , intervention ( Full Tilt Poker ) and Aditya Agarwal (PokerStars.IN) . Agarwal was part of Team PokerStars until January 2020 . Since 2006 he has also participated in renowned live tournaments .

In June 2007 , Agarwal was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and cashed in a tournament in the No Limit Hold'em variant . Then he reached the 450th place in the main event . At the end of August 2007, he placed in the money for the first time at the main event of the European Poker Tour and landed in Barcelona in 15th place for 25,100 euros in prize money. At the 2008 WSOP , he was again in the main event successful, finishing in 96th place for more than 50,000 US dollars . From 2013 to 2016 , he made it four times in a row to place in the main event of the WSOP in the money. His best placement was 71st place in July 2015 , which brought Agarwal prize money of just under 100,000 US dollars. He cashed eleven times at the 2017 WSOP . In March 2018, Agarwal finished second in the main event of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour in Macau for his highest prize money to date of just under 250,000 US dollars.

In total, Agarwal has earned more than one million US dollars with poker in live tournaments, making it the third most successful Indian poker player after Vivek Rajkumar and Nipun Java .
