The originally preserved wrought iron bridge railing was decorated with two rows of leaf ornaments. The name of the bridge was incorporated into a narrow railing field on both sides of the top of the structure as a cast iron relief. The metal parts come from the renowned blacksmith's workshop of Eduard Puls .

The promenade is connected with a wrought iron grille and tendril ornaments at the same height. On the other sides of the bridge, the metal railing is bordered by a curved stone border towards the street. There is also a two-armed candelabra in historical form on the top of the bridge and simple iron lanterns provide light at the two ends of the bridge. Some of the small balls on the handrail of the railing have a smiley face with just a few strokes .

Special uses

The viability and stability of the bridge were full utilization by the road to. In the years from its completion to around 1921, a tram line also ran over the Admiralbrücke, which was then diverted through Graefestrasse and Böckhstrasse and the neighboring Kottbusser Brücke . Because of the residential buildings that came close to the bridge and the banks, the district administration closed this bridge to through traffic in the 1990s. In recent years, the Admiralbrücke has been the place for protest meetings by committed conservationists who, with a collection of signatures from more than 25,000 supporters, prevented tree felling on the banks of the Landwehr Canal.

The Admiralbrücke has also developed into a popular evening meeting place, which is even mentioned in travel guides . Local residents and tourists meet here on mild, dry evenings and consume drinks they have brought with them, and street musicians occasionally play . The scene meeting is also called bottle party by the participants from all over the world . Other residents complained to the responsible district office about the noise pollution and founded an initiative for those affected. Proposals for solutions were sought together, including reopening the bridge to car traffic. In the summer of 2009, all those involved found a compromise in a residents' meeting, which provides for maintaining the restricted-traffic zone, but imposing some restrictions on the party guests. If the often hundreds of visitors to the bridge do not adhere to the guidelines, the stressed residents sometimes call the police for help. A curfew has been in effect for celebrating on the bridge since 2010: from 10 p.m., police officers ask those present to leave the bridge and then stay nearby to prevent the celebrants from returning.

Late in the evening on December 2, 2007, a young mother gave birth to a baby directly on this bridge because she could no longer make it to the nearby Urbank Hospital ; a policewoman stood by her side.

In May 2008, the exhibition “The Jewish Voice” took place directly on the Admiral Bridge with several picture-text panels designed against the building of the Wall in Palestine .
