Adolf von Duve

Adolf Eduard Eberhard Ludwig von Duve (born July 23, 1790 in Eickeloh ; † January 11, 1857 in Ratzeburg ) was a German lawyer and historian.

Life

Adolf von Duve was the son of the Hanoverian court judge and collegiate seniors Joachim Friedrich Wilhelm von Duve in Rethem (Aller) . After attending the Ritterakademie Lüneburg , he studied law at the University of Heidelberg and was awarded a Dr. PhD in both rights . Duve became a member of the Corps Hannovera Heidelberg in 1809 . After graduation, he was first secretary of the sub-prefecture of Lüneburg, a district of the Département des Bouches de l'Elbe, from October 1811 until the end of the French era . In 1814 he and his father, who had temporarily become a royal Westphalian notary in Lüneburg during the French era, were charged with collaborating with the French before the court , but were not sentenced to any prison sentence. Another career in the judiciary of the Kingdom of Hanover was blocked for father and son.

At the end of 1818 he settled as a lawyer in Lauenburg / Elbe , which was now under the influence of Denmark, and was appointed notary there the following year. In July 1824 he moved his practice to Mölln . In 1834 he was at the by King Friedrich VI. Schleswig-Holstein-Lauenburg Higher Appeal Court, newly established by Denmark , is authorized to settle legal cases from the area of ​​the Duchy of Lauenburg .

He gave up his legal practice in 1848 and moved to Ratzeburg. Here he was only devoted to his historical interests. His main work is the more than 800-page revision of the history of the Duchy of Lauenburg , which Peter von Kobbe sought to deepen and improve on the history and description of the country of the Duchy of Lauenburg . Numerous articles and treatises on legal and historical subjects can be found in the literary encyclopedias cited. In October 1835 he was accepted as a corresponding member of the Association for Mecklenburg History .

Adolf von Duve was canon of the St. Peter and Paul Monastery in Bardowick , which only came under the administration of the Hanover Monastery Chamber in 1851 .
