Agnès Soral (born June 8, 1960 in Aix-les-Bains , Savoie , France ; actually Agnès Bonnet de Soral ) is a Swiss - French theater and film actress .

Life

Agnès Soral was born in Aix-les-Bains in 1960 as the third and last child of a Swiss legal advisor and a French notary clerk. Her brother, two years older, is the right-wing extremist essayist Alain Soral , from whom she publicly distanced herself sharply in 2014. When she was 13 years old, she and her family moved to Grenoble , where she attended the local conservatory . She joined the amateur acting troupe Foyer Parmentier and worked, among other things, as a puppeteer. At the age of 15 she went to Paris , where she worked as a mannequin and usher in the cinema and attended an acting course with Françoise Le Bail and Georges Wilson . She made her theatrical debut at the Théâtre d'Art et d'Essai in 1976 in Dimítris Kollátos ' play Voyage avec la drogue et la mort .

Soral was seen for the first time in a movie in Claude Berri's melodrama All Beginnings is Fun (TV: A Moment of Confusion, Un moment d'égarement ). Six years later she starred again under the direction of Berris in his drama On the Edge of the Night ( Tchao pantin , 1983). For her portrayal of the young punk girl Lola, she received two César nominations for Best Supporting Actress and Best Young Actress , which made her known to a wider audience.

In 1986, the 1.78 meter tall actress appeared alongside Jürgen Prochnow and Senta Berger in Michael Verhoeven's film Killing Cars . In 1988 she worked with German director Margarethe von Trotta for the film drama Fear and Love . In the star-studded multi-part television series Catherine the Great ( Catherine the Great , 1995), she played as Countess Bruce, Catherine II's confidante , played by Catherine Zeta-Jones . A year later, Soral was also part of the cast of Volker Schlöndorff's Der Unhold . Soral made her directorial debut in 1998 with the short film Ça boum . In 2006 she participated in the French version of I'm a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here! part in order to draw attention to the protection of the rainforest by their own account. Since 2007 Soral has been the patron of the Aquaverde Society, which works with the indigenous population of Brazil to preserve the Amazon rainforest .
