geography

course

It rises in Höntrop near the suburb of Eppendorf not far from the street "Am Ahbach". Initially in a north-easterly direction, it flows along a forest through the fields of the Krummen Ecke to Engelburg as an open stream. It is piped on under the Wattenscheid-Bochum Hbf railway line, re-emerging at the tennis halls and running along the Sauren Wiese until it is again led underground behind Essener Straße. In a wide arc north rotationally it is under the Thyssen Krupp - plant Höntrop forwarded until it appears after the A 40 as a channel back to the surface. A few meters afterwards, at the height of the Bochum-West motorway triangle , it flows into the Kabeisemannsbach , which is also canalized and later flows into the Goldhammer Bach . This flows into the Hüller Bach , which empties into the Emscher.

The upper reaches of the Ahbach (in the area of the former Marianne colliery ) no longer has any springs. The dry weather runoff begins a little behind the lane opening in the Saure Wiese area, a little below the tennis club, through an attached former hereditary tunnel.

In the renatured area along the Am Ahbach road , among other things, the yellow juggler flower grows naturalized .
