The Aiplspitz with its karen is designated as a valuable geotope by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (geotope number: 182R003).

Summit climbs

The Aiplspitz can be climbed from all four directions:

  • from the north: from Aurach near Fischbachau via Benzingalm, Jägerkamp , Tanzeck and the W-ridge, AV -Wege 641, 641a and 643, 1200 m, 3½ hours, not difficult to the W-ridge (two short insured places, in wet places muddy and slippery).
  • also from the north: from Aurach first on the same path, but then at the junction just before the Benzingalm to the left to the N ridge and over this to the summit (surefootedness and a head for heights absolutely necessary, exposed in places, easy block climbing and over scree craggy terrain, partly also Walking terrain through mountain pines, several short places UIAA I, risk of falling rocks, approx. 30 minutes from the point 1570 m, where the paths from the Aurach Valley and from the Geitauer Alpl reach the ridge). There is a risk of slipping in places when wet.
  • from the east: from Geitau near Osterhofen (suburb of Bayrischzell ) over Geitauer Alpl and the N-ridge, AV-Weg 643 / B5. There is a road to the Geitauer Alpl, then a path to the beginning of the ridge.
  • also from the east: from Geitau via Krottentaler Graben / Krottentaler Alm (AV-Weg 644), then via the O-ridge (AV-Weg 641) or to Tanzeck and via the W-ridge (AV-Weg 643). There is a road to the Krottentaler Alm, then a hiking trail.
  • from the south: from the mountain station of the Taubensteinbahn past the Rauhkopf to the Tanzeck, then over the W ridge.
  • from the west: from the Spitzingsattel either the Sommerweg (not signposted; later AV-Weg No. 641A) via the Jägerkamp or Winterweg (AV-Weg No. 643) via Schönfeldalm, then to Tanzeck and over the W ridge.
