The first educational institution for this was the Bildungswerk Akademie für Neue Medien eV on February 26, 1987 in Kulmbach . V. founded. The founding members were among others the city and the district of Kulmbach , the Otto Friedrich University Bamberg , the University of Bayreuth , the Frankenpost Verlag and the Kulmbacher Verlag EC Baumann. Langheimer Amtshof

The Langheimer Amtshof as the seat of the academy can look back on 600 years of history. The former monastery lies at the foot of the Plassenburg . In the 14th century owned Cistercian - Klosterlangheim in Lichtenfels lands in more than three hundred villages in Upper and Middle Franconia. Therefore, as early as 1331, the management of the Kulmbach land was relocated to the so-called monastery or monk's courtyard of the Katharinenkapelle. The current buildings were built towards the end of the 17th century. The system was expanded and redesigned according to the plans of Leonhard Dientzenhofer . This created a monastic office, apartments for the administrative staff and large granaries.

The Amtshof served as a rent office from 1803 , later it was referred to as the most romantic tax office in Germany until 1965 . The Langheimer Amtshof remained unused until the mid-1980s. In addition to the Academy for New Media, it now also houses a vocational school for pharmaceutical-technical assistants and research centers at the University of Bayreuth.

In the 5.5-month compact training course, participants are trained full-time from Monday to Friday in all common media. It is recognized by employers in the media industry as a time reduction for the subsequent traineeship . In addition to shooting and editing training, video production, audio editing and print articles, web design and social media are also part of the training. It can be funded through the education voucher . In the final exam, the participants design a website and use the content they have created.

Further seminars

Seminar series "Journalism"

For beginners and advanced learners, seminars for the journalistic trade are offered in newspaper, magazine and online editorial offices, as well as moderation training and technical training for volunteers and employees in radio and television stations. The main focus of the seminars is on little theory and many practical exercises. Subject-specific seminars such as B. "Cultural reporting" is part of the Academy's portfolio.

Corporate seminars

The seminar series is aimed primarily at employees from the fields of marketing and corporate communications as well as professional groups with a wide range of tasks, such as secretaries or executive assistants, but also at employees and managers in the private sector and the public service Authorities and associations. The aim of the courses is to make the participants more confident when dealing with the press or when appearing in public.

In-house training

The academy designs individual in-house training courses for a wide range of target groups, tailored to the requirements and wishes of the respective client. They can determine the content, dates, lecturers and training locations themselves - and also how much time and resources they want to invest in a training course. A wide range of content can be covered, which goes far beyond the journalistic and marketing-oriented subject areas.

Media Academy Online (MAO)

In 2019 the e-learning portal www.medienakademie-online.de was launched by the Academy for New Media. The available courses can only be processed and completed online, a supplementary on-site seminar in Kulmbach is purely optional. The e-learning courses "Conducting interviews", "Social Media Specialist", "Fit for the editorial staff" and "Local politics for journalists" can currently be booked. The topic "Local Policy for Schoolchildren" can only be used by schools. Learning videos with the respective lecturers as well as test questions with multiple-choice answers enrich digital learning. After a successful final test, the participants receive a digital certificate that they can print out. The range of training courses is to be expanded over the next few years.
