Akash Nandy

Akash Neil Nandy (born January 10, 1997 ) is a Malaysian racing driver . He started in the GP3 series in 2016 .

Career

Nandy began his motorsport career in karting in 2009 , where he remained active until 2011. In 2011 he also made his debut in formula racing . He started for Meritus in the JK Racing Asia Series and finished seventh overall with three third places. In 2012, Nandy started the season for Meritus in the JK Racing Asia Series, but left the championship after the first event. He then contested a few races for KCMG in the Formula Pilota China . In addition, he contested two races in GT racing in the Malaysian Super Series . In early 2013 , Nandy took part in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand for ETEC Motorsport and reached 14th place. Then Nandy drove again for KCMG in the Formula Pilota China. He was third overall with four wins. He also won the non-championship race in Macau . Nandy also drove his first race in a Le Mans prototype with KCMG in 2013 when he started the season opener of the Asian Le Mans Series (AsLMS). He achieved the victory together with his teammates Gary Thompson and James Winslow .

In 2014 Nandy moved to Europe and started for Tech 1 Racing in the alpine Formula Renault , which he finished in 13th place. He also made two guest starts each in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and the GT Asia Series . In 2015, Nandy drove for Performance Racing in the Remus Formula 3 Cup . With eight wins, he won most of the races. Nevertheless, he was defeated in the championship to Jordi Weckx , who had only won once, with 218 to 219 points. In contrast to Weckx, Nandy did not take part in every race and skipped four races. He also made two guest starts in the MSV F3 Cup . In the winter of 2015/16 , Nandy returned to the AsLMS for a race at KCMG. He won the GT-Am class together with Paul Ip and Yuan Bo .

In 2016 , Nandy received a cockpit in the GP3 series at Jenzer Motorsport . He was 24th overall.

He has been driving in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and the Audi R8 LMS Cup since the start of the 2017 season .
