Aki ( Japanese 安 芸 市 -shi ) is a city in Kōchi prefecture in Japan .

Aki is east of Kōchi on the Tosa Bay of the Pacific Ocean .
history
Aki-shi , the (independent) city of Aki, was founded on August 1, 1954 when the (district) city ( -chō ) Aki and seven other communities from Aki ( Aki-gun ) merged. Before 1895 Aki was a village parish (- mura ) .
