Akilnathan Logeswaran (born October 16, 1988 in Munich ) is a German activist for a united Europe.

Life

Logeswaran grew up in the Feldmoching-Hasenbergl district of Munich . His mother is German, his father one of Sri Lanka derived Tamil . From 2010 to 2013 he completed a bachelor's degree in economics and information-oriented business administration at the University of Augsburg , then he studied international management at the Vienna University of Economics and Business from 2013 to 2015 and at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta from 2014 to 2015. During his studies, he worked for the United Nations and headed the German delegation at the European Youth Event of the European Parliament in Strasbourg in 2014 .

Logeswaran is one of the special ambassadors for the Free Interrail initiative . Since April 2015 he has been a member of the Munich hub of the Global Shapers Community of the World Economic Forum . In 2017 Logeswaran was also elected to the Advisory Board of Global Shapers. He was one of 34 youth champions worldwide who developed a new concept for Europe for the World Economic Forum, which was presented to the European heads of government at the annual meeting in Davos 2018.

Logeswaran worked full-time as a consultant and specialist for digitization projects for Deloitte Digital from 2016 to 2018, and has been a digital ambassador for the German Society for International Cooperation since 2018 . Logeswaran has also been working for Facebook since 2020 as the community manager of the “Power Admin Program” for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In 2017 Logeswaran co-founded the Munich group of the citizens 'movement Stand Up For Europe , he is still a supporter of the citizens' initiative Pulse of Europe and has been a member of Think Tank 30 of the Club of Rome since February 2017 . In addition, Logeswaran has been part of the project team for the election recommendation application WahlSwiper since 2017 .

Due to his commitment to a united Europe and against nationalist and protectionist politics, he was listed in January 2018 by the US magazine Forbes among the 30 under 30 in Europe 2018 in the category Law and Politics. In November 2018, the German business magazine Capital named him one of 40 under 40 in the Society and Science category.

Logeswaran is a member of the SPD and was a juror for the 5th edition of the Shining Stars of Europe video competition of the European Commission and the European Parliament in 2016 .

Media appearances

During his studies, Logeswaran created the Campus Cat Facebook page in 2012 about a tomcat who lived on the campus of the University of Augsburg.

In 2018 Logeswaran was accompanied in the report Mei, Munich of the ARD buffet , was a guest in the daily talk on ARD-alpha / Bayern 2 and in Bayern 3 on " Mensch Otto ".
