Alan Ritchson (born November 28, 1984 in Grand Forks , North Dakota ) is an American model , actor and singer . He is best known in Germany for his role as Thad Castle in the MTV series Blue Mountain State .

Life

Ritchson was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota. His father was a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force and his mother was a high school teacher. His family moved first to Champaign , Illinois and then to Niceville , Florida . He attended Niceville high school, but dropped out without graduating. He then worked as a model for Abercrombie & Fitch and International Jock underwear mail order company. He signed with Vision Model Management agency in Los Angeles in 2008 and modeled for N2N bodywear.

He applied for the third season of American Idol in 2004 . The audience remembered him mainly because of a striptease for juror Paula Abdul . His debut album This is Next Time was released in 2005, a mixture of pop and hip-hop that went relatively unnoticed.

At the same time he applied as an actor in Hollywood . One of his first appearances was a lead role in the slasher The Butcher (2006). He appeared from 2005 to 2010 with several guest appearances as Arthur Curry and Aquaman in the Superman series Smallville . His film appearances include works such as Though None Go with Me and Nora Roberts: Mitten der Nacht . Alan Ritchson's appearance was the inspiration for the title character in The Legend of Beowulf .

From 2010 to 2011 he appeared on the American football television series Blue Mountain State . As Gloss , he starred in the 2013 science fiction film The Hunger Games - Catching Fire .
