Niceville is a city in Okaloosa County in the US state of Florida with 12,749 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Niceville is bordered by Valparaiso to the west and Choctawhatchee Bay to the south . The city is about 25 km south of Crestview and about 80 km east of Pensacola .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 12,749 inhabitants were distributed over 5,657 households. The population density was 450.5 inh / km². 87.2% of the population identified themselves as whites , 4.2% as African American , 0.6% as Indians and 3.2% as Asian Americans . 0.9% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.9% to several ethnic groups. 4.7% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 30.5% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 27.2% of all households. 69.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.43 people and the average family size was 2.87 people.

24.4% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 22.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 21.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 42 years. 49.4% of the population were male and 50.6% were female.

The median annual income was $ 62,614, with 11.6% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 93.04% of the population, 3.89% spoke Spanish and 3.07% had another mother tongue.

Niceville is crossed by Florida State Roads 20 , 85 , 285 , 293 and 397 . The nearest airports are Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (around 5 km southwest) and Pensacola International Airport (around 90 km west).

The crime rate in 2010 was 130 points (US average: 266 points) in the low range. There were three rapes, one robbery, 13 assaults, 49 break-ins, 171 thefts and 15 car thefts.
