Valparaiso is a city in Okaloosa County in the US state of Florida with 5036 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Valparaiso is bordered by Niceville to the east and Choctawhatchee Bay to the south . The city is about 25 km south of Crestview and about 80 km east of Pensacola .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 5036 inhabitants were distributed among 1738 households. The population density was 163.0 inh / km². 84.6% of the population identified themselves as whites , 5.7% as African American , 0.6% as Indians and 3.6% as Asian Americans . 1.0% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 4.5% to several ethnic groups. 5.5% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 29.1% of all households lived in 23.7% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 60.2% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.21 people and the average family size was 2.79 people.
21.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 37.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 21.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 18.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 28 years. 59.0% of the population were male and 41.0% were female.
The median annual income was $ 57,765, with 5.7% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 88.95% of the population, 8.81% spoke Spanish and 2.24% had another mother tongue.

The crime rate in 2010 was 60 points (US average: 266 points) in the low range. There was one rape, two robberies, three assaults, 14 break-ins, 43 thefts and one car theft.
