Wright is a census-designated place (CDP) in Okaloosa County in the US state of Florida with 23,127 residents (as of 2010).

Wright borders the city of Fort Walton Beach to the south . The CDP is around 40 km south of Crestview and around 60 km east of Pensacola . Florida State Roads 85 , 188 , 189 and 393 cross Wright .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 23,127 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 11,296 households. The population density was 1628.7 inh / km². 69.8% of the population identified themselves as whites , 15.5% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 4.3% as Asian Americans . 4.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 5.2% to several ethnic groups. 11.8% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 30.6% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 20.1% of all households. 59.8% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.32 people and the average family size was 2.87 people.

25.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 32.3% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 16.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 34 years. 49.9% of the population were male and 50.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 44,830, with 22.7% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 92.78% of the population, 3.29% spoke Spanish and 3.93% had another mother tongue.
