action

season 1

The young Rachel Roth has supernatural abilities. For example, she can sense other people's thoughts when she touches them, and sometimes she breaks panes of glass out of fear or anger because she cannot control her abilities. Sometimes she also has a distorted dark reflection that speaks to her, scares her, and makes her believe in something bad inside her. She dreams of the past death of Dick Grayson's parents, who died in a murder disguised as an accident 15 years ago during a circus performance. Grayson was then taken on by billionaire Bruce Wayne, who is active as Batman in Gotham City . Dick joined him as a sidekick Robin .

One day Rachel's mother is shot dead in front of her eyes by an unknown person. Before she is murdered, she reveals to her daughter that she is not her birth mother at all. Rachel then flees to Detroit , where she meets the police officer Dick Grayson. He is still secretly active as Robin, but has recently broken away from Batman.

After Rachel is kidnapped and almost killed by the stranger, and she kills the kidnapper in self-defense when her dark side takes control, Dick takes Rachel with him. He takes her into care with Hawk and Dove , who is his ex-girlfriend. However, they are ambushed and Rachel is kidnapped by the Nuclear Family , while Dawn aka Dove is seriously injured. During her abduction, Rachel is tracked down and freed by Kory Anders, who has lost her memories and only knows that she is looking for Rachel. Kory is exceptionally strong and has the powers to create bubbles of energy that set the environment on fire.

Dick locates her and they bring Rachel to safety with nuns in the convent where her mother took refuge with her as a baby. However, they lock Rachel up for fear of her supernatural abilities. Rachel manages to escape from the monastery and meets Garfield Logan, also known as Gar, who has been injected with a serum after an accident that gives him the gift of transforming himself into a tiger. When Dick and Kory find Rachel, Gar joins the group and they form a team together. But Rachel continues to be pursued by the Nuclear Family and the troop is tracked down again. The family is overwhelmed by Dick, Gar, Rachel and Kory and through them Dick comes to her client Dr. Adamson, who kills the assassins using cerebral bombs because of their failure.

With the help of Jason Todd, Dick's successor as Batman's sidekick Robin, Dick overwhelms Dr. Adamson and the advancing forces charged with murdering him and him. Dr. Adamson provides information that he is one of Rachel's father's henchmen and is therefore after her. He also shows Rachel in herself that she has the ability to heal people and reveals to her that her birth mother Angela is being held in an institution because she wanted to hide her from her father. Rachel then sets out with Gar and followed by Dick and Kory to save her mother. After they fail, are captured, separated, tortured and questioned, they can free themselves and succeed in their endeavors. Rachel's dark side makes her healing to Dr. Adamson's self-inflicted throat cut, causing him to die. They destroy the entire facility, Dick burns his Robin outfit and the group decides to take refuge with Angela in Ohio .

Dick meets Donna Troy, who was once active as a Wonder Girl . With her, Dick finds out that Kory is actually after Rachel to eliminate her. Meanwhile, Rachel tries to use her newfound gift to help Kory regain her memories. During the procedure, Kory almost kills Rachel, but is stopped by Donna at the last moment. Thereupon Kory, confused by her actions, flees from Angela's estate, but is followed by Donna and Dick. You arrive in a warehouse where a camouflaged spaceship is hidden. It is Kory's spaceship and together with Donna and Dick she learns that she is Koriand'r aka Starfire from the planet Tamaran. She has the order to kill Rachel so that her home planet can be saved, which is otherwise destroyed by Rachel's father Trigon , who can only return to this world with the help of his daughter, as well as the earth and other worlds.

During Kory's attack, Rachel can inexplicably come into mental contact with Dawn, waking her up from her unconsciousness. Dawn lets Hank aka Hawk, who slept by her sickbed, know that Rachel needs her help and that they need to find Jason Todd.

Meanwhile, on Angela's estate, Gar becomes seriously ill for mysterious reasons and is dying because Rachel's powers are not strong enough to heal him. Angela explains to her daughter how to bring her father over so that he can save Gar with his more powerful powers. Rachel then conjures up Trigon without knowing that he wants to destroy the earth and that her mother manipulates her when Dick, Kory and Donna arrive back at Angela's property. Trigon, who heals Gar with ease, builds up a force field around the property through which he only allows Dick to enter. Trigon manipulates Dick's thoughts and can bring him under his control.

season 2

Rachel uses her telepathic skills to call on Hawk, Dove and Jason for help. When they stand in front of the force field with Kory and Donna, Trigon finally lets them enter as well. However, like Dick before, they are being manipulated and brought under his control. Thereupon they beat Garfield unconscious and Trigon tears out her daughter's heart and can manipulate her thoughts as a result. After he steps out of their property in the shape of the devil with Angela and kills her, Garfield comes to, who helps Rachel regain consciousness. Then Rachel can banish her father, whereupon the rest of the Titans come to again.

After the fight, Kory decides to leave the group and is picked up shortly after by Tamaranean Faddei, who has been tasked with flying Kory back to her home planet Tamaran so that Kory can be crowned queen. However, Rachel, who continues to struggle to control her skills, persuades Kory to stay. Dick drives to his ex-mentor Bruce Wayne alias Batman , who provides him with financial means, provided that Dick also trains Jason, to set up quarters in San Francisco with the Titans Tower for the re-established superhero group Titans . In San Francisco, Dick rescues Rose Wilson, who is Deathstroke's daughter , and brings her to the quarters. At first it seems that Deathstroke becomes aware of the Titans through this, but in fact Rose is smuggled into the Titans by him. He has a plan to separate the Titans by bait and so fight them and kidnaps Jason. He then demands that the Titans extradite Rose in exchange for Jason. Dick then meets with Deathstroke and wants to trade himself in for Jason as a hostage. However, Deathstroke planned to kill Jason and threw him off a skyscraper. Connor , a clone of Superman and Lex Luthor , gets the fall and saves Jason. He broke out of Luther's laboratory Cadmus, in which he was created, with the dog Krypto and is wanted by the laboratory technicians. Since he revealed his powers when rescuing Jasons, he and Krypto are tracked down by Luther's units. Connor is shot in a life-threatening manner with kryptonite and krypto is brought back to the laboratory.

Eve Watson, who created Connor, frees Krypto and together they flee to Connor, who is fatally injured in Titans Tower. With Eve's expertise, Kory and Rachel save Connor's lives. Meanwhile, Dick feels guilty about Jason's fall. He decides to share his secret with Jason. Accordingly, Deathstroke terrorizes the Titans, since Dick is to blame for the death of his son: After Donna, Hawk, Dove and Dick formed the Titans together with Donna's lover Garth alias Aqualad five years earlier, Deathstroke shot Garth. As a result, Dick found Deathstroke's son Jericho to get to his father. Dick revealed to Jericho that his father Slade Wilson was a hit man. The Titans gave Jericho custody when Slade reclaimed his son from them. At the meeting there was a confrontation between Deathstroke and Dick. Jericho threw himself as Deathstroke to a fatal blow against Dick, in between and was fatally wounded by his father.

When the other Titans find out about this, they decide to go their separate ways. Dick tries to ask forgiveness from Jericho's mother and meets Deathstroke there. He reveals to him that the Titans' falling apart was his plan so that Dick, like himself, would lose his family and become lonely. He announces that he will kill every single Titan if they get back together. So Dick decides to turn the police against him and get arrested. While talking to Deathstroke, Dick also noticed that Jericho's consciousness lives on in Deathstroke and that he is fighting against his father to control his body. At the same time, Kory learns that her sister Blackfire has usurped power on Tamaran and is now pursuing Kory. Only Garfield remains in the Titans Tower and waits for Connor to wake up. After that happens, Garfield tries to convince Connor to become a Titan too. On the street, however, it comes to a fiasco, because Connor attacks police officers due to a misunderstanding. The Cadmus employees find out and lead Garfield, Connor and Krypto back into the laboratory and brainwash Garfield and Connor. Meanwhile, Rose and Jason fall in love, so Rose decides to break away from her father and join the Titans. Rose reveals to Jason that her father smuggled her into the Titans to separate them from within.

Rachel, Donna, Kory and Dawn come together to reunite the Titans. They learn of Garfield and Dick's captivity and want to free them. However, Dick has since broken out of prison and learns that the Titans have reunited and that Bruce Wayne had a new suit made for him. Hence, Deathstroke prepares to kill the Titans. He confronts Rachel, Kory, Donna and Dawn on the way to rescue Garfield and tries to kill them. But Dick oppose him as Nightwing and Rose. Rose kills her father while Jerichos can transfer his consciousness from his father's body to Rose's body. They then meet Garfield and Connor in an amusement park, who are under the influence of Cadmus' brainwashing. A fight ensues, and Hawk also joins it. The Titans can free Garfield and Connor from mind manipulation. However, a pillar falls over in the amusement park, which Donna protectively catches, but has a fatal accident. Her body is taken to the Amazons in Themyscira . Rachel decides to follow her and separates from the Titans.

History of origin

In September 2014, Variety announced that Turner Network Television was interested in ordering a television series about the Teen Titans . In late 2014, a script was ordered for a pilot episode written by Akiva Goldsman and Marc Haimes in which Dick Grayson emerges from the shadow of Batman and becomes the superhero Nightwing . In May 2015, TNT chairman Kevin Reilly said the casting was about to end and production of the series, to be named either Titans or Blackbirds , could begin. However, in January 2016, Reilly announced that TNT would no longer pursue the series as it was no longer part of their strategy. However, Geoff Johns said the following month that they still had plans for the series. Finally, in April 2017, Warner Bros. announced that Titans would be on The CW from 2018 . The pilot was written by Greg Berlanti , Akiva Goldsman and Geoff Johns, who also co- produce with Sarah Schechter .

In August 2017 it was announced that Brenton Thwaites would slip into the role of Dick Grayson aka Robin and Nightwing, respectively, while Teagan Croft slip into the role of Raven and Anna Diop into the role of Starfire . The following month, Alan Ritchson was cast to play the character Hank Hall aka Hawk . That same month, Minka Kelly was cast in the role of Dawn Granger aka Dove . In October, the role of Beast Boy was also cast with Ryan Potter . Filming for the first season began in Toronto on November 15, 2017 and ended in May 2018.

After the series Arrow , The Flash , Legends of Tomorrow , Supergirl and Black Lightning , Titans is the sixth series produced by Greg Berlanti and based on characters from DC Comics. However, Titans is currently not officially part of the so-called Arrowverse , to which all previous series belong, even if those responsible keep an option for a future crossover or an integration into the Arrowverse open. Instead, they currently want to build another, independent series universe, which includes the series Doom Patrol .
