Albana di Romagna

Albana di Romagna (or: Romagna Albana DOCG ) is an Italian white wine grown and produced in a large northern Italian area between the towns of Imola and Savignano sul Rubicone in the Emilia-Romagna region , which includes the provinces of Bologna , Forlì and Ravenna . These are wines that have had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1967 and have been classified in the next higher quality level ( DOCG ) since September 22, 2009 . The denomination was last updated on March 7, 2014.

The wine must consist of at least 95% Albana grape variety . A maximum of 5% other white grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Emilia-Romagna region may be added. The white wine is developed in the flavors secco (dry), amabile (sweet), dolce (sweet) and passito (sweet on the basis of dried grapes). All of these wines have had DOCG status since 1987 .

Growing area

Approved vineyards are in the municipalities of Borgo Tossignano , Casalfiumanese , Castel San Pietro Terme , Dozza , Fontanelice , Castrocaro Terme e Terra del Sole , Longiano , Meldola , Montiano , Roncofreddo , Brisighella , Casola Valsenio and Riolo Terme and in parts of the municipalities of Imola , Ozzano dell'Emilia , Cesena , Forlì , Forlimpopoli , Savignano sul Rubicone , Castel Bolognese and Faenza .

The dry white wine matures for about 6 months at the winemaker and should be drunk as quickly as possible. It can be stored for a maximum of 2 years.

Albana di Romagna passito
