Albert Johannes Först OCarm , Portuguese Alberto Johannes Först , (born November 26, 1926 in Gunzendorf , † November 1, 2014 in Eggolsheim ) was a German clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Dourados .

Life

Albert John Först joined the Congregation of the Carmelites at and received on 29 June 1952, the priestly ordination . Since 1954 he worked as a missionary in Brazil, where he built up the provincial commissioner of his order in Paranavaí. In 1985 he was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Dourados.

Pope John Paul II appointed him coadjutor bishop of Dourados on July 6, 1988 . The Bishop of Dourados, Theodard Leitz OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on September 7, 1988 ; Co- consecrators were Vitório Pavanello SDB , Archbishop of Campo Grande , and Eliseu Maria Gomes de Oliveira OCarm, Bishop of Itabuna . When Teodard Leitz retired on May 12, 1990, he succeeded him as Bishop of Dourados. In 1994 he was the founder of the Centro de Integracão do Adolescente Dom Alberto , which takes care of the education of children and young people from socially disadvantaged families.

On December 5, 2001, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. From 2009 he retired in Eggolsheim in Upper Franconia.
