Albert Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith Patabendige Don (born November 15, 1947 in Polgahawela , Sri Lanka ) is Archbishop of Colombo .

Life

Albert Malcolm Ranjith studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the Diocesan Seminary as well as at the Pontifical Urban University and the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. He received on June 29, 1975 in Rome through Pope Paul VI. the sacrament of ordination .

Archbishop Ranjith criticizes the practice of communion in hand , which is accompanied by "an increasing weakening of a reverential attitude towards the most holy of holies", and says that the Catholic Church should reconsider the decision to allow communion in hand.
