Albert Seerig

Albert Seerig (born April 26, 1797 in Rudolstadt ; † March 7, 1862 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Was a German surgeon and university professor .

Life

After attending grammar school in Rudolstadt, Seerig moved to the University of Jena on October 28, 1817 to study medical sciences. He continued his studies at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin and later at the Silesian Friedrich Wilhelms University , where he received his doctorate in medicine in 1822. In Breslau he found a place of activity as a prosector at the anatomical theater , where he completed his habilitation in 1825 . As a private lecturer , he was appointed associate professor at the university's medical and surgical institute in 1826 .

In Breslau he devoted himself to the fight against cholera and appeared as an author of medical writings. In 1836 he was appointed full professor of surgery and director of the surgical-ophthalmological clinic at the Albertus University in Königsberg . He participated in the organizational tasks of the university and was elected rector for the winter semester of 1839/40 . He was a full member (1842) and honorary member (1851) of the Medical College of the Province of Prussia , from which he resigned in 1857. In 1858 he was appointed to go. Medical Council . He was a member of many learned societies.
