Albrecht Nikolai Cup

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Albrecht-Nikolai-Pokal is an award in the field of table tennis that the West German Table Tennis Association gives to clubs, teams, active players or officials from North Rhine-Westphalia who have special achievements in table tennis or who have stood out for special merits. The extraordinary merits can be in the past or through the current work of the honored person.

The Albrecht Nikolai Cup has been awarded once a year since 1950.

The prize is named after the table tennis player Albrecht Nikolai, who belonged to the ESV Blau-Rot Bonn club and played for the Stuttgarter Kickers before the Second World War and was in charge of the Gau Mittelrhein. Nikolai died at the age of 38. His Bonn club mates donated the Nikolai Cup.
