Aldan at Tommot

The 2,273 km long Aldan ( Yakut for "gold containing"; Russian Алда́н ) is a right tributary of the Lena in the Russian Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) .

Its source is in the Stanovoi Mountains in Russia, west of the city of Neryungri . From there it flows through the Aldan highlands in a northeasterly direction and comes into an ever-widening valley to gradually turn to the east. About 150 km north of Yakutsk it flows into the middle course of the Lena. Its catchment area covers 729,000 km².
