Aljaksandr Pataschou
Aleksandr Potashov ( Belarusian Аляксандр Паташоў ., English transcription Aliaksandr Patashou, Russian Александр Поташёв , Alexandr Potaschow, Aleksandr Potashov * 12. March 1962 ) is a former Belarusian mountaineers , who until 1991 for the Soviet Union and in 1992 for the Commonwealth of Independent States took.
In 1981 Pataschou was second at the European Junior Championships in 10,000 meter track walking.
At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 1988 Potaschow was fourth in the 50 km walk in 3:41:00 h , but was more than a minute behind third-placed Hartwig Gauder from the GDR.
At the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo , the 50 kilometer competition started at 7 a.m. local time. Nevertheless, the race at 25 degrees and 97% humidity became an ordeal for the participants. After the two Soviet walkers Alexander Potaschow and Andrei Perlow had jointly worked out a clear lead over third-placed Hartwig Gauder, they did not fight against each other on the home straight, but crossed the finish line together with one arm on each teammate's shoulder. After 3 hours, 53 minutes and nine seconds, the target camera showed Pataschou a hundredth of a second ahead, so Pataschou received gold and Perlow silver.
Perlow won gold at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , while Pataschou was disqualified. From 1993 Potashov started for Belarus, so at the European Championships in 1994 , where he was disqualified again.
Aljaksandr Pataschou is 1.87 tall and weighed 80 kg at competition times.
