Alex Caruso (born February 28, 1994 , College Station , Texas ) is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA .

Time in the NCAA

After attending A&M Consolidated High School, Caruso moved to Texas A&M University in 2012 for the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship . The development player played for the Aggies for four years, in his last season at the university in 2015/16, the native Texan averaged 8.1 points and distributed 5.0 assists per game. With a total of 649 basket templates and 276 steals, Caruso took first place in the respective all-time best list at his university.

Professional career

In the 2016 NBA draft , Caruso was not considered by any franchise. The Guard landed after a good appearance in the NBA Summer League for the Philadelphia 76ers a seat at the farm team of the Oklahoma City Thunder , the Oklahoma City Blue in the NBA G-League , the developmental league of the NBA. In 2016/17 Caruso scored a good 11.9 points per game and was one of the best passers in the entire league with an average of 5.2 assists.

Caruso quickly became known to the talent scouts of the NBA and so he got the chance in the summer of 2017 to recommend himself for higher tasks in the Summer League team of the Los Angeles Lakers . He won the NBA Summer League with the traditional team this summer . In July 2017, Caruso signed a two -way contract with the Californians.

While he played mainly in the G-League for the South Bay Lakers in the 2017/18 season, the 1.96 meter tall player fought for minutes with the Lakers. In this season he was in a total of 37 league games on the floor. The Texan made his debut in the 122: 117 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on October 19, 2017. Caruso scored two points in the game and secured two rebounds. In the summer of 2018, he extended his contract with the Lakers and averaged 9.2 points per game in 25 games.

For the 2019/20 season, the playmaker extended his contract for two more years, in which he was guaranteed a salary of 5.5 million US dollars. In the NBA season 2019/20 Caruso knew how to convince with some remarkable actions. The American is therefore considered a crowd favorite among California fans.
