Kyle Alexander Kuzma (born July 24, 1995 in Flint , Michigan ) is an American basketball player who has been under contract with the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA since 2017 . After playing college basketball for the University of Utah for three years , he was selected by the Brooklyn Nets in the 2017 NBA Draft and then transferred to the Lakers.

youth

Kuzma was born in the US industrial city of Flint in the state of Michigan and grew up in poor conditions. After graduating from Bentley High School , he enrolled at the University of Utah in 2013 , but was not allowed to begin his education until a year later because he applied too late.

According to his own statement, Kuzma has taken multiple NBA champion Draymond Green as a model for his style of play , who, like him, comes from Michigan and is primarily used as a power forward . He also called himself a big fan of NBA superstar LeBron James .

Kuzma played a surprisingly good NBA debut season for a player who was selected late in the draft. In October / November he was elected Western Conference Rookie of the Month . On December 20, 2017, Kuzma achieved a career best of 38 points in a 122: 116 victory over the Houston Rockets .
