Alex Pohn
Alex Pohn or Alexander Pohn (born July 11, 1977 in Ried im Innkreis ) is an Austrian musician. In addition to his work as a drummer with Tyler , Jazzodrom, Hubert von Goisern , Violetta Parisini , Julian le Play , Madita , HellerPropeller and Hans im Glück, he also works as a producer for various artists together with Lukas Hillebrand for the Viennese label Grid-Music .
Life
Pohn studied jazz drums at the Gustav Mahler Conservatory in Vienna from 1999 to 2003 and in 2003 he took the pop course at the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg. At the end of 2003 he became a permanent member of the Viennese rock band Tyler and played numerous concerts in Austria and Germany as part of the Don´t Play Tour. After the release of the album Favorite Sin in February 2011, the band broke up in December 2011.
Before that, Pohn was the drummer in Hubert von Goisern's band during the Linz-Europe Tour 2007-2009 . In 2007 this led on a cargo ship converted into a concert stage on the Danube from Linz to the Black Sea . At almost 30 concerts, they played together with local artists for the guests on land. The guest bands included Karandilla, Rambo Amadeus, Haydamaki, Zdop si Zdub, Loredana Groza. In 2008 the boat trip followed from Linz upstream and over the Main-Danube Canal and the Rhine to Rotterdam . Guest musicians included Xavier Naidoo , Zap Mama , Konstantin Wecker and BAP . The trips were recorded on the Goisern goes East / West DVD . In 2008 Hubert von Goisern and his band recorded the album S'nix together , which von Goisern composed with Alex Pohn, David Lackner, Severin Trogbacher and Helmut Schartlmüller. An extensive indoor and open-air tour followed in 2009, which was documented with the live album Haut & Haar .
From the end of 2009 to 2011, in addition to his band Tyler, Pohn mainly worked as a studio and live drummer for Madita, Violetta Parisini, Heller Propeller and Axel Wolph and increasingly began to work as a music producer. Together with his former Tyler bandmate Lukas Hillebrand , he produced numerous songs for the ORF television show Heroes of Tomorrow and subsequently worked with the GridMusic label .
At the beginning of 2011 a new project started with Hubert von Goisern. The multi-award-winning album EntwederUndOder , released in September 2011, was recorded in winter together with Helmut Schartlmüller and Severin Trogbacher. As with S'nix before , most of the songs were developed during jam sessions and composed by the musicians together with von Goisern. Starting in October 2011, the single Brenna tuat's guat was number 1 in the Ö3 Austria Top 40 for five weeks and was heard on Austrian and German radios for months. The Brenna tuats tour followed in 2012 with over 100 concerts in Austria, Germany, South Tyrol and Switzerland with over 300,000 concert guests, which ended on December 2nd with the farewell concert in Bad Ischl .
In May 2012, the debut album As far as Sonar by Julian le Play . Pohn is involved in this project as a band musician as well as a producer. With the production team, he was awarded the Amadeus Award 2013 for the best engineered album . Two years later he received a second award as the co-author of Thorsteinn Einarsson's song Leya .
Pohn is endorser of Paiste - Cymbals and father sticks and used exclusively vintage Drums by Ludwig , Rogers and Slingerland , snare drums of AK and Drumsynthsounds of electron , North and Jomox .
