Alexandar Alexandrov Emilow ( Bulgarian Александър Емилов Александров * 31 October 1984 in Sofia , Bulgaria ) is a former Bulgarian boxer in the flyweight .
Boxing career
Alexandrov was around 1.65 m tall during his competitive career, boxed in the left display and trained in the National Sports Academy and the boxing department of the CSKA Sofia sports club . In the course of his career he was Bulgarian champion several times, most recently in 2013, 2014 and 2016.
He won a bronze medal each at the 2001 World Championships in Belfast and the 2003 World Championships in Bangkok . He was also a silver medalist at the 2002 European Championships in Perm and a bronze medalist at the 2004 European Championships in Madrid .
At the European Olympic Qualification 2012 in Trabzon he reached the final with wins against David Alaverdian, Charlie Edwards , Valeriu Cîrma and Manuel Cappai , where he was only just defeated by 9:10 against Ferhat Pehlivan . This gave him a starting place at the 2012 Olympic Games in London , where he defeated Juliano Máquina and Shin Jong-hun before he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Kaew Pongprayoon .
He was also a participant in the European Championships in 2004 in Pula , 2008 in Liverpool , 2010 in Moscow and 2013 in Minsk , as well as the World Championships in 2009 in Milan and 2013 in Almaty . At European and World Championships he played a total of 23 fights, of which he won 14.
In the course of his career he defeated, among others, the Olympic champions Yuriorkis Gamboa and Robeisy Ramírez , as well as the Olympic medalists Georgi Balakschin and Jérôme Thomas .
He won the international and Bulgarian Strandja-Tournament in 2001, 2003, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013. In 2014/15 he participated in the semi-professional tournament mode AIBA Pro Boxing (APB), where he scored two wins and two defeats.
On February 18, 2006 he lost his only professional fight against the Spaniard Rafael Lozano .
