Amateur, until 1960

After the two teammates Alfred Glenski and Willi Bergstein had shot SV Baesweiler 09 to the championship in the Mittelrhein Association League in front of Siegburger SV 04 in the 1959/60 season , the two offensive talents from what was then Selfkantkreis Geilenkirchen-Heinsberg got for the 1960/61 round a contract with the western league club Alemannia Aachen. Alemannia Aachen, 1960 to 1968

In contrast to center forward Willi Bergstein - who shot himself to the top of the top scorer list in Aachen with 25 goals in the first year - Alfred “Ale” Glenski found it difficult to get into the regular line-up of the Tivoli- Elf in Aachen in the first two rounds . The first game in the Oberliga West played Glenski on October 16, 1960 in a 2-1 home win against Meidericher SV . The half-right acting half-forward scored both goals for the team of coach Helmut Kronsbein . When Vladimir Beara and Branko Zebec, two Yugoslav national players from Red Star Belgrade and center runner Hans Löring from SC Viktoria Köln came to Aachen for the second season in 1961/62, the ex-amateur from Baesweiler had a very difficult time with the regular line-up to qualify. In the last year of the major leagues 1962/63 Glenski made the leap into the first line at Alemannia with 26 appearances and nine hits under the new coach Oswald Pfau . Despite the fifth place, the DFB Aachen did not nominate for the new Bundesliga for the 1963/64 round. The last league game won the team of captain Josef Martinelli on May 11, 1963 with 2-1 goals against Bayer Leverkusen and had with 37:23 points the same number of points as the fourth in the table Prussia Münster . From 1960 to 1963 "Ale" had played 42 league games with 13 goals. Glenski stayed with Alemannia and continued his career from the 1963/64 season in Aachen in the Regionalliga West .

Regionalliga West, 1963 to 1967

He was actively involved in the championship wins in 1964 and 1967 , as well as in the runner-up in 1965 and the entry into the DFB Cup final and the promotion to the Bundesliga in 1967. In the 1965/66 season he won the top scorer in the west with 26 goals ahead of Heinz- Dieter Hasebrink (Rot-Weiss Essen) with 18 and Peter Meyer (Fortuna Düsseldorf) with 17 goals. He played a total of 102 games with 48 goals. This balance also includes the bitter experiences of the failed promotion rounds in 1964 and 1965, where he played all six matches. In the last promotion game in 1967, on June 25th against Göttingen 05, he contributed two hits to the 3-1 home win. Coach Michael Pfeiffer rose to the Bundesliga with strikers Herbert Gronen , Erwin Hoffmann , Hans-Jürgen Ferdinand , Alfred Glenski and Karl-Heinz Sell in 1967 against the competitors Kickers Offenbach , 1. FC Saarbrücken , Göttingen 05 and Tennis Borussia Berlin . Moving into the DFB Cup final on May 22, 1965 in Hanover against Borussia Dortmund is also one of the sporting highlights in Alfred Glenski's career.
