Alfred Georges Naccache

Alfred Georges Naccache (also: Naqqache ; Arabic ألفرد جورج النقاش Alfred Jūrdsch an-Naqqāsch ; * 1887 ; † September 28, 1978 ) was a Lebanese politician. From April 7 to November 26, 1941 he was Prime Minister and then from 1941 to 1943 President of Lebanon . Naccache was maronite .

Life

Together with Pierre Gemayel and Charles Helou, he founded the Lebanese Phalangist Movement (also known under the name: Kata'ib ) in 1936 , a political party that essentially represented the Christians in Lebanon and, together with the Sunni movement al-Najada for the independence of the Lebanon fought by France. Shortly after it was founded, he left the party with Charles Helou (who later became president).

Naccache was President of Lebanon shortly before independence (from April 9, 1941 to March 18, 1943). From 1953 to 1955 he was Foreign Minister of Lebanon.
