Riad as-Solh

Riad es-Solh or Riad Solh ( Arabic رياض الصلح, DMG Riyāḍ aṣ-Ṣulḥ ; * 1894 ; † July 17, 1951 ) was the first Prime Minister of Lebanon after independence from 1943 to 1945 .

Like all of his successors in office, he was a Sunni Muslim . He was once Prime Minister of 14 December 1946 to 14 February 1951. A few months after his resignation as-Solh died in a bombing in the airport Marka International in Amman , Jordan , killed. The Syrian Social Nationalist Party officially claimed to be an act of revenge for the execution of Antoun Saadé .

Solh was one of the most important figures in Lebanon's struggle for independence, who was able to unite the various religious groups.

Like many conservative politicians in the country, he wore the Fez .
