Alfred Neff

Alfred Heinrich Neff (born July 18, 1906 in Bretten ; † November 2, 1970 in Tübingen ; Protestant) was briefly mayor of Bretten and district administrator of the district of Karlsruhe and from 1964 to 1970 judge at the state court for the state of Baden-Württemberg .

Alfred Neff was the son of the stove manufacturer Adolf Neff in Bretten and Luise nee Wich. He married on October 12, 1933 Ellen nee Nauen (born April 3, 1910), daughter of the consul Alfred Nauen. This marriage had two children: Verena (born March 3, 1939) and Dagmar Elke (born February 17, 1943).

education

Alfred Neff attended secondary school from 1916 to 1924. After graduating from high school in 1925, he studied at the Mannheim Commercial College from 1925 to 1928 , where he graduated with a degree in business administration . He then studied political science at the Universities of Heidelberg , Frankfurt am Main , Bonn and Cologne . On October 8, 1932 he was promoted to Dr. rer. pole. PhD with the grade magna cum laude .

Life

In 1930/31 he was an assistant at the psychological institute of the Mannheim Business School and began working in his parents' company in Bretten in 1931. His attempt to get his habilitation failed because of his anti-fascist attitude. In 1940 he became operations manager and sole owner of the Carl Neff stove factory . After the end of the Second World War he was appointed mayor of Bretten by the occupying powers . From October 5, 1945 to April 23, 1946 he was also acting district administrator for the district of Karlsruhe . In this function he was a member of the provisional parliament for Württemberg-Baden . From February 1946 to 1949 he got a teaching position for the subjects sociology , then psychology , at the Technical University of Karlsruhe . Neff was Vice President of the Karlsruhe Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 1955 to 1962 and its President from 1963 to 1970. On July 16, 1964, he was elected by the state parliament of Baden-Wuerttemberg to judge at the State Court of Justice for the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg in the group of members without qualification for judicial office. He held this office until his resignation on July 31, 1970.
