Alfred Otto Swede
Alfred Otto Schwede (born April 16, 1915 in Haynsburg ; † August 7, 1987 in Hohen Neuendorf ) was a German writer and translator.
Life
Swede was the son of a basket maker. He studied theology and Nordic studies at the University of Leipzig . He had already stayed in Sweden several times in the last years of his studies . During the Second World War he worked as an interpreter . He was then a pastor , freelance translator and writer in Haynsburg (1947–53), Uthleben and Brandenburg-Görden , before moving to his second home in Hohen Neuendorf in 1976 . His rich literary work is particularly evident in historical novels , short stories and short stories, which he often set in Scandinavia . Further topics were biographies, biblical stories, church history and much more. He
not only cultivated his own work, he also distinguished himself as a translator of literature from Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish. In Haynsburg, his birthplace, a plaque on the old parsonage reminds of him.

Series of Stories from the History of Christianity
In this series, Schwede deals with the issues of her time by letting contemporaries discuss them. Everyday people have their say as well as well-known figures from the history of Christianity. Each volume deals with a longer or shorter epoch and contains a large number of stories, each approx. 30. These are 4-15 pages long. The listed subtitle makes it easier to classify the epoch. Each story is illustrated with a drawing.
