Alfred Peukert

Alfred Peukert (born August 1, 1925 in Gablonz an der Neisse , Czechoslovakia ; † January 2013 in Mali ) was a German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador in Mali, Niger , Upper Volta and in Tunisia .

Life

Peukert, son of a locksmith, did military service in the Air Force . After his release from American captivity , he went to the Soviet occupation zone and joined the SPD . In 1946 he became a member of the SED .

In 1946 Peukert completed a teacher training and from 1947 to 1953 was a new teacher in Bad Langensalza and in Kammerforst , headmaster in Bad Tennstedt and deputy district school councilor in Erfurt . From 1953 to 1959 he was a lecturer at the Pedagogical Institute in Erfurt . Here he was also the secretary of the SED party leadership. From 1959 to 1964 he studied social sciences in Berlin and then from 1964 to 1969 was again a lecturer at the University of Education in Erfurt. In 1967 he graduated as Dr. phil.

After additional studies at the Institute for International Relations in 1969/70, Peukert was a member of the Diplomatic Service of the GDR. From 1971 to 1975 he was First Secretary and Counselor in Algiers , from 1975 to 1977 Ambassador of the GDR in the Malian capital Bamako and second accredited in Niger and Upper Volta. From May 1978 to 1979 he was the GDR's ambassador in Tunis .

Then Peukert was a lecturer at the SED district party school in Erfurt. Since 1989 he lived as a pensioner in Erfurt.
