The Algerian Air Force ( القوات الجوية الجزائرية Al Quwwat aljawwiya aljaza'eriiya ) (including the air defense) has a strength of about 14,000 soldiers .

Air defense

Air defense uses the S-125 Neva , 2K12 Kub , S-300P and 9K34 Strela-3 weapon systems .

There is evidence that Algeria has 24 2K22 Tunguska , 38 96K6 Panzir and 725 anti-aircraft guns .

Incidents

• On February 11, 2014, a Lockheed C-130H Hercules of the Algerian Air Force ( aircraft registration 7T-WHM ) had an accident in mountainous terrain near Ain Kercha. The machine was approaching Constantine Airport when it collided with the site 30 km south of it. Of the 77 people on board, 76 were killed.

• On April 11, 2018, an Ilyushin Il-76 of the Algerian Air Force ( 7T-WIV ) crashed into a field in the province of Blida in northern Algeria shortly after taking off from the Boufarik air base near the capital Algiers , broke up and burned down. All 257 inmates, 247 soldiers and relatives and 10 crew members died.
