Ali Sunyaev ( Russian Али́ Раши́дович Сюня́ев, Ali Rashidowitsch Sjunjajew ; born June 11, 1981 in Moscow , Soviet Union ) is a professor of computer science and director at the Institute for Applied Computer Science and Formal Description Methods of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology .

Life

His father is Rashid Sunyaev ( astrophysicist and director at the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics ), his mother Gyuzal Sunyaeva is a doctor. His brother Shamil Sunyaev is Distinguished Chair Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School at Harvard University . Due to his father's work, the family left Russia in 1996 and moved to Germany .

After graduating from the Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium in Garching near Munich , Ali Sunyaev studied computer science ( diploma ) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) from 2000 to 2005 . In the same year he entered the graduate school of the Institute for Computer Science at the Technical University of Munich, where he did research on topics of information security in health care . After receiving his doctorate ( Dr. rer. Nat. ) On the development and practical application of a security analysis method for telematics infrastructures in Germany, he accepted an appointment at the University of Cologne , where he held a junior professorship ( W1 ) for business informatics from 2010 to 2016 and Information Systems Quality was. In 2009 and 2012 Ali Sunyaev did research as a visiting scientist in the joint laboratory of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ( Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology, Intelligent Health Lab, Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Boston, Massachusetts, USA ). In the spring of 2011 he was visiting professor at the plenary session of the annual meeting of the Higher School of Economics in Moscow.

Ali Sunyaev researches the design and development of information systems , with special attention to the combination of technical and social aspects. His research interests include the development of innovative applications in medicine , cloud computing , blockchain / distributed ledger technology and information systems security management .
