Alina Petrovna Iwanowa ( Russian Алина Петровна Иванова , English transcription Alina Ivanova ; born March 16, 1969 in Chelyabinsk ) is a Russian walker and long-distance runner who competed for the Soviet Union until 1991 and for the Commonwealth of Independent States in 1992.

At the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in 1991 , she won the 10 km walk. With 42:57 min she had a clear lead over the Swede Madelein Svensson and the Finn Sari Essayah , who took the medal positions with 43:13 min.

At the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1992 Iwanowa won 3000 meters in 11: 49.99 minutes ahead of the Italian Ileana Salvador and the German Beate Anders .

At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona there was a dramatic final round in the Olympic Stadium. The two Chinese Chen Yueling and Li Chunxiu led by around 20 meters over the two walkers Jelena Nikolajewa and Alina Iwanowa, who competed for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). However, the chasers caught up quickly and Ivanova in particular literally flew up to the Chinese. Ivanova finished in 44:23 minutes ahead of Chen in 44:32 minutes, Nikolajewa in 44:33 minutes and Li in 44:41 minutes. The judges had also had the impression that Ivanova was flying up. She was disqualified for lack of traction, and Chen was an Olympic champion.

Ivanova then began a career as a road runner . In 2000 she won the Prague Marathon for the first time under 2:30 hours in a marathon . In 2001 she set her personal best as fourth in the London Marathon with 2:25:34 h. In 2003 she was fifth in the Berlin Marathon , in 2005 fourth in the Hamburg Marathon . The following year she won again in Prague, and in 2006 and 2007 she won the Dublin Marathon .

She has also participated in international championships in her new discipline. She achieved her best placement at the World Half Marathon Championships in 2004 in New Delhi as ninth. At the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , she finished 20th.

Alina Ivanova is 1.64 m tall and weighs 49 kg.
