Singles

My Life Would Suck Without You

Before the album was released, the single My Life Would Suck Without You was released at the end of January , with which it set a new US chart record: In the February 7, 2009 issue of the Billboard Hot 100 , it rose from number 97 to number one with 280,000 downloads. Sales in the first week of release. She improved the record by one place over Britney Spears , who had risen from 96th to 1 with Womanizer . It was the second time that Clarkson set a new record.

I do not hook up

The second single was I Do Not Hook Up . The song was written by Katy Perry and was originally planned for her own debut album, which had not yet been released at the time. The single was released on May 22, 2009 and was less successful than its predecessor.

Already gone

On September 18th, 2009 the third single Already Gone was released in Germany. The song was written by Ryan Tedder , lead singer of the band OneRepublic . Kelly Clarkson originally did not want to release the single because it was very similar to the song Halo , also written by Tedder for Beyoncé . Ryan Tedder rejected allegations of this kind, emphasizing that "the concept, the melody and the lyrics are two completely different songs".

All I Ever Wanted

On March 9, 2010, the fourth single was released in the USA. It reached number 96 on the Billboard Hot 100 , a music video was not released for the single.

Reviews

Stephen Thomas Erlewine from Allmusic writes that All I Ever Wanted may be less dark than its predecessor My December , but that the album still doesn't completely ignore the rocking elements. He praises the versatility of the artist and says that Clarkson's voice sounds best with the voluminous refrains accompanied by guitars . Erlewine sums up that Kelly Clarkson has a rare talent and that the album largely satisfies the artist's abilities. The music magazine Rolling Stone notes that the hit single My Life Would Suck Without You and their 2004 hit Since U Been Gone are very similar and attributes this to the participation of Swedish producer Max Martin. The reviewer also sees this as the greatest criticism of the album. Dani Fromm from laut.de remarked that Kelly Clarkson couldn't use her vocal skills in the louder passages, and that the songs were very similar to each other.
