History of origin

The song was sung by Kendrick Lamar and R&B singer and songwriter SZA for the soundtrack to the film Black Panther and can be heard at the beginning of the credits of the film. Ryan Coogler , the film's director, said Lamar is perfect for the score because “its content reflects exactly the issues we are addressing in the film.” Coogler and lead actor Chadwick Boseman had mentioned several times that they were big fans of Lamar be. He was inspired by the Marvel comic when designing Black Panther: The Album .

Publication and music video

The song was released as a stream download on January 4, 2018 and is included on the soundtrack for the film, Black Panther: The Album , which was released digitally and on CD on February 9, 2018.

A music video for All the Stars was released in early February 2018. This was directed by Dave Meyers and the Little Homies . The video combines African aesthetics with superhero depictions. You can see Lamar in the midst of a crowd in an African village and while crossing a desolate landscape accompanied by a group of panthers and SZA in various elaborate costumes while dancing.

Chart successes

In the Billboard Hot 100, the song had its best ranking at number 7 and in Germany at number 28.
