Allan Massie

Allan Massie (born October 19, 1938 in Singapore ) is a Scottish writer and journalist.

Life

Massie is the son of a rubber planter who worked as a supplier to Sime Darby in Malaysia . Massie spent his school days in Aberdeenshire . He attended a private school at Drumtochty Castle (near Auchenblae ) and later moved to Glenalmond College in Perth and Kinross . Massie then studied history at Trinity College ( University of Cambridge ).

At the instigation of Rab Butler , Massie was admitted to the Royal Society of Literature in 1982.

Allan Massie currently (2011) lives in Selkirk ( Scottish Borders ).

Since graduation, Massie has written regularly for many UK newspapers and magazines including The Scotsman , The Sunday Times , Daily Mail , The Daily Telegraph , Literary Review , The Independent and The New York Review of Books . In addition, a literarily independent oeuvre of novels and non-fiction books emerged over the years.
