Alloclita is a genus of butterflies from the family of cosmopterigidae (Cosmopterigidae).
features
The representatives of the genus are medium-sized butterflies. The head is smoothly scaled, the antennae are three quarters as long as the forewings. The labial palps are long and curved. The fore wings are quite broad and lanceolate. They have a clearly defined, darkened basal region and one or more, often very indistinct, bandages. The hind wings are somewhat narrower than the fore wings. They are lanceolate and tapered to a point.
In the males, the brachia are more or less symmetrical. They are as long as the tegumen or longer. The left brachium is longer than the right. The tegumen is wide, square, or slightly tapered distally . The blades are fringed, have a widened base and a rounded apex. The valvellae are finger-shaped and quite long and slender. The aedeagus is long and curved and tapers distally.
In females, the apophyses posteriores are slightly longer than the apophyses anteriores. The ostium is surrounded by a sclerotized band and is partially covered by the membranous fold between the 6th and 7th sternite . The ductus bursae is membranous and widens towards the corpus bursae . The corpus bursae is oval and can be marked with a sign.
distribution
The representatives of the genus are distributed from Spain eastwards across the Mediterranean to India, Mongolia and Southeast Asia. Some species are native to Africa.
biology
The biology of the Alloclita species is likely to be similar to that of the Pancalia species. It is known of only one kind. The caterpillars therefore live in sandy feeding tunnels at the root neck of flea herbs ( Pulicaria ), where they feed under the bark of the root.
