Among other things, he was active for the Bundesliga club Hamburger SV . Moreira's speed and his ability to play good passes made him usable almost everywhere in the central midfield.

Moreira is the uncle of the soccer player Carlos Mané .

Career

society

Born in Guinea-Bissau , he played for the Portuguese first division club Boavista Porto from 1997 . In total, he came between 1997 and 2001 to 17 games for Boavista, in which he scored one goal. For the seasons 1997/98 and 1998/99 Moreira was loaned to the second division Gondomar SC , then to the third division Gil Vicente FC . For the new millennium he switched to the 10-time Belgian master Standard Liège . Here he had his most successful time in his career to date, notable was a group game in the 2003/04 UEFA Cup , where he met the Icelandic champions FH Hafnarfjörður with Standard Liège . Moreira scored all four goals for the Belgians in this game (final score: 4-3). For the 2004/05 season, Moreira moved to the Bundesliga for a year on loan to Hamburger SV . With him came offensive colleague Emile Mpenza from Belgium. The Portuguese made his debut in the top German league on matchday 4, September 11, 2004, in a 2-0 draw against VfB Stuttgart . Coach Klaus Toppmöller had his new purchase in the starting lineup. On matchday 13, in the 6-0 away win of HSV against FC Hansa Rostock , Moreira scored his first of a total of three Bundesliga goals for the north club. Although the midfielder was regularly used, HSV did not pull the purchase option and Moreira went back to Liège. But even there they wanted to do without the services of the offensive player. A year later, in August 2006, he signed a three-year contract with the Russian first division club FK Dynamo Moscow . Moreira failed to live up to expectations in Moscow, and after just one game of the season, he left the club in January 2007 and returned to Portugal to save Desportivo Aves, a club in danger of relegation . In the end Moreira could not prevent the relegation despite good performances and moved on August 5, 2007 to the Serbian capital club FK Partizan Belgrade . Here he became a hero on his second appearance on July 29, 2007, when he scored the 2-2 final score in the 88th minute with a long-range shot in the Eternal Derby against rivals FK Red Star Belgrade . In his first season in Belgrade, he played 28 games (7 goals) and won the double . In the UEFA Cup game on December 3, 2008 against Sevilla FC , Moreira suffered a collapse during the game and was immediately rushed to hospital. In January 2009, he was back in action. On April 22, 2009 it was announced that Moreira was extending his contract with Partizan for three years. Due to consistently good performance, he was elected to the top 11 of the Serbian SuperLiga in 2008/09 , and again won the double. On August 5, 2009, despite his mother's death the day before, Moreira decided to play against Cypriot champions APOEL Nicosia in the UEFA Champions League qualifying match . Moreira took the lead after just 180 seconds, Partizan won 1-0, but were eliminated because they lost 2-0 in Cyprus. On February 27, 2010 Moreira played his 100th competitive game for Partizan in the league game against FK Borac Čačak . He wears the number 10 on his back.

National team

Between 1997 and 1999 he played a total of 19 games (7 goals) for the Portuguese U-21 national team , and in 2002 in preparation of the Portuguese national soccer team for the soccer World Cup in Japan / South Korea in 2002, two games (a 1-1 against Japan and a 3-0 against Nigeria) for the senior team, but was not taken into account for the World Cup. Since the 3-0 win against Nigeria on May 1, 2002, he has been waiting for a nomination for Portugal's national team.

Eight years later, Moreira was called up again for the national team. But for those of his homeland Guinea-Bissau . The midfielder finally made his debut for the Djurtus on September 4, 2010 in the qualifying game for the 2012 African Cup of Nations against Kenya . Surprisingly, on Moreira's debut, the team won their first official international game in fourteen years. In order to qualify for the AM, the Portuguese coach Luís Norton de Matos is increasingly relying on the legionnaires Moreira and his national team mates Basile de Carvalho , Ednilson and José Monteiro de Macedo .
